Storm SLT technical specs. Expedition specs. Back to Builders' Gallery This little gem speaks for itself! |

After five month I finally finished the Storm SLT for my daughter Lisa (11). She feels very secure and comfortable in it. It was my first kayak and I had fun building it. Your plans are perfect and everyone is pleased with the design... I didn't like the idea staple the wood strips onto the mould. So I had some trouble keeping everything in position but I think I managed it quite well...The timber I used is Alaskan white cedar and Mahogany. For the cockpit rim I used bendable plywood. It's not easy to find nice timber in New Zealand but sometimes one is lucky. - Hans Podlucky |

...I have chosen Alaskan white cedar for the deck and Pacific cedar for the hull and cockpit rim. The inlays are Mahogany veneer. (Count the number of legs on the 18 crabs... - my fingers where still hurting from cutting the shape three weeks after!!!) But I think the result was worth the effort... |
